Want to know more information about the Hendra Vaccine??
This deadly disease was first documented in 1994, since then at least 65 horses and four of the seven people infected have been confirmed to have died from the disease.
After racing to develop a vaccine for horses against this virus the Equivac HeV Vaccine was released in November 2012. Since then uptake of the Vaccine by horse owners has been slow, possibly due to lack of information regarding its success and safety for use on breeding stock, or the price of the veterinary-administration only vaccine.
Horse owners should take steps to make informed decisions regarding this Vaccine. There are many sources of information including State Government Primary Industries departments, Horse Councils and of course your local veterinarian.
